United Democratic Club Calls for the Immediate Removal of President Trump

The United Democratic Club sent the following letter in to Speaker Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Schumer this afternoon re: removal of Trump from the Presidency following Wednesday’s insurrection as the U.S. Capitol.

Dear Madam Speaker and Leader Schumer,

It is with great sadness that we are writing on behalf of San Francisco’s United Democratic Club, District 2 Democratic Club, Eastern Neighborhoods Democratic Club, and Edwin M. Lee Asian Pacific Democratic Club to respectfully request and fully support both the Senate and House pursuing all options to remove President Trump from office.

It is the right thing to do and is imperative after Wednesday’s insurrection. A sitting President inciting terrorism anywhere, especially at our Nation’s Capitol, is a treasonous act.

We have all come to the clear conclusion that President Trump is unfit for office, and humbly request you to pursue impeachment as swiftly as possible if the 25th Amendment is not invoked. As long as he remains in office he is a threat to national security.

Thank you for your leadership, especially in these chaotic times.
